Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA)

Rail workers are exposed to a variety of dangers when working. The Federal Employers' Liability Act (FELA) was passed by Congress to tackle this issue. The law allows employers to be exempt from state laws on workers compensation. It also allows monetary payouts that are determined by juries based upon comparative negligence.
